Annie goes Industrial

Some people have a hard time believing Annie Sloan's claim that her Chalk Paint® can be used on anything, but I'm here to tell you it is absolutely true! Most are skeptical when it comes to painting on metal. With traditional paint, working with metal means lots of cleaning, sanding, priming, more sanding, coats and coats of paint, and then sealing it. All this work only to find that it chips off easily. With Chalk Paint® it's a matter of dusting it off, painting a couple of fast drying coats, and adding a bit of wax.

The industrial look is hotter than ever. Chalk Paint® can help you turn that beat up cabinet from the garage into a statement piece in your home. Here is a quick look at my all time favorite Chalk Paint® project. I get more comments about these cabinets than every other project in my home combined!

It's hard for people to believe how easy the transformation was but the proof is in the pudding...or pictures. They were just a couple of old parts cabinets that I picked up on Craigslist. I removed the drawers, wiped everything down, sat out in the sunshine, and painted away with my can of Old White! The whole project took about 3 hours total including drying time. I whipped up some number labels with some vintage stamps and voila!

Not ready to tackle such a large piece? Metal boxes of all kinds are in every vintage store right now. These are great for adding pops of that industrial look and some extra storage to your home. They are great on their own but...

It's much more fun to add a pop of color or even some stripes with a quick coat of Chalk Paint®.

Have you ever used Chalk Paint® on metal? What's the craziest thing you've painted?
