Chalk Paint® Lamp Revamp

Saving ugly lamps is as simple as a couple coats of Chalk Paint® decorative paint by Annie Sloan. Shiny brass lamps from the 80's & 90's are the worst offenders in our book. They are just screaming for a Chalk Paint® makeover!

We saved the above lamp for a client's living room makeover. She was trying to reuse pieces and just give them a modern update. We love that! This lamp worked perfectly and had a great shape, no need for it to got to the landfill. We painted 2 coats of Graphite, added a coat of Clear Wax for protection, and added a new burlap drum shade. You can't even tell it's the same lamp! Our big tip for painting lamps is to let each coat of paint dry thoroughly. This will ensure that it will adhere to the slick metal. No sanding or primer needed!

Look how beautiful it turned out! Do you have an ugly lamp? Stop in the shop and we can get you all set up with a paint color and wax, or we can paint it for you!

  1. I love the way chalk paint transforms old lamps but I've had trouble with paint rubbing off of ceramic lamps. Should I have sanded or roughed up the surface before painting? Is there any remedy after the fact?

  2. Always choose designs that are child safe. Look for lights which are made of child-safe materials including non-toxic paints, anti-impact and non-removable parts. floor lamps
